FEM Organizes International Conference Human Ecology (HEIC2017)

PUTRAJAYA, April 18 – The Faculty of Human Ecology (FEM), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) organized an International Conference on Human Ecology (HEIC 2017) to empower and boost existing capabilities in the field of social sciences, particularly in Humanitarian and Racial Development Cluster.

Deputy Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said the conference could provide input for the  formulation of policies towards a safer and better world.

“This conference is able to outline resolutions to spearhead policies and tracks to achieve a balance in human ecosystem,” he said when launching HEIC 2017 here.

UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris, meanwhile, said the conference deliberated and analysed on ecological challenges faced by the world.

“Our mission is to help the people, especially future generations, by providing the advantages and benefits for a balance in human ecosystem to be enjoyed by families, masses and the country in a dynamic condition,” she said.

Chairman of HEIC 2017, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Haslinda Abdullah, said HEIC 2017, with the theme “Towards a Safer World: Addressing the Dynamics of Human Ecological Challenges” saw the gathering of more than 200 local and foreign researchers, policy-makers and implementors in  various fields in relation to human ecology.

“This conference is able to analyze civilizations, religions and values,  management of resources, community development, development of children,  youths and adults and their behavioural patterns in overcoming the challenges faced by families, communities and the country in a dynamic condition,” she said.

The conference was organized with the cooperation of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Ministry, (KPDNKK), Youth and Sports Ministry (KBS), Home Ministry, Foreign Ministry, Sime Darby Foundation, Petronas Cari Gali Sdn Bhd, Khazanah Nasional Berhad and Microsoft Corporation (M).
