The Chair
Tan Sri Empiang Jabu Research Chair was established on 1 November 2019 by Sarakup Indu Dayak Sarawak (SIDS) and Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM). It is being funded by the Sarawak government for the initial 5-years period.
TSEJRC is established to help empower Dayak women in various aspects of development, be it in social or economic as well as in political. This is to be carried out through various approaches: research, seminars, trainings/ workshops/ short courses, graduate studies, visits, etc.
Call for Application
TSEJRC and SIDS call upon members of SIDS and their children who are interested to pursue graduate studies leading to either a Master of Science or Doctor of Philosophy degree in any social science fields (e.g. Political Science, Economic, Psychology, Anthropology or Sociology) at Universiti Putra Malaysia.
There are 13 fields of the social sciences offered by the Faculty of Human Ecology (see www.eco1.upm.edu.my for details) on what are available that may be chosen.
How to Apply?
Application for graduate studies are open throughout the year. Aspiring applicants need to visit and apply online at the School of Graduate Studies’ website (http://sgsportal.upm.edu.my:8080/sgsportal/).
Please take note that semester 1 starts in November, and semester 2 in February. Application and entrance of graduate students who choose the thesis path are not restricted by these datelines.
